Classes in ChantillySummer 2010
Are you ready for an adventure? Go around the world with 5 fun-filled days of songs, stories and an art project created each day about different countries. Each day will work in a different media and country of origin. This class is for 8-11 year olds, (Older siblings can be included prior to start of class). All supplies included. Each class is 3 hours long and designed to help your child grow with excitement of learning through becoming aquainted with different customs and methods of art. June 28 - July 2nd 10:00 - 1:00, Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, light snack included, Juice and cheese crackers Monday, Italy - Paint an acrylic still life of Italian items. Tuesday - France - Design your own clothing (figure drawing and fashion). Wednesday - China - Chinese puppetry and the art of paperfolding. Thursday - Make a mask and learn about Hieroglyphics. Friday- United States - Study famous artist Andy Warhole and make block prints of favorite household items of your choice. Cost: $220.00 per child Questions or concerns click here!
Do you love horses? Want to know everything about them in the art world? Investigate horses from Mane to Tail, for 9 - 12 year olds July 12th - 16th 10:00 - 1:00, Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, light snack included, Milk or water and fresh fruit. Monday - Charcoal/Newsprint figure drawing using a small tabletop mannequin Handout used for proportion. Tuesday - Breif horse art history and sculpture - do your own cave paintings of horses based on art done in ancient history. Wednesday - famous horses and what made them outstanding, overview of the Kentucky Horse Museum - Clay Sculpture. Thursday - Watercolor techniques of any breed. Contimued talk about famous horses in art in the 19th century. Friday - Draw from life with colored pencils at Frying Pan Park in Chantilly, (other locations possible TBD before start of class). 200.00 per child 5 child minimum
Nature Notebook Saturdays from 10 - 12 am, Artists home studio, Elenor C Laurence Park, and Cox Farms, Starting, July 10th Weekly study of natural artists/botanists/scientists, ages 7 - 11 years/3 child minimum - 5 child maximum.
